Shawn was born on November 15, 1977, in Merced, California, United States. When he was five, his parents migrated to Sayre, Oklahoma, where he spent the rest of his childhood. Moreover, his father Richard maintained an auto body shop where Shawn learned about automobile repairing techniques from him.
As he was very interested in working alongside his dad in the shop, and they always modified and tested for making them faster, more durable, and more reliable. In 2005, Shawn chose to travel to Oklahoma City, where he bought a car, which ultimately became his popular car, “Murder Nova.”
On September 28, 2015, a group of strange men attacked his shop with bullets that struck doors and windows of his shop, Midwest Streetcars. Luckily, the shop was already closed when those bullets hit the glass. He had been running the shop as a co-owner with Justin Shearer aka Big Chief from “Street Outlaws.”
The duo was also known for a podcast, ‘The Chief and Shawn Show’ before 2013. Then they started appearing in a Discovery channel’s show ‘Street Outlaws’; the show featured their business, racing and also showed some glimpse of their personal life.

Shawn’s first appearance on the Discovery Channel’s series; Street Outlaws in 2013 with his car; Murder Nova and was soon crowned; King of the Street for winning several races. He held his position as a King for three years alongside Da and Daddy Dave, who were also making significant progress in the show.
In 2016, he announced his new Murder Nova car, and all of his fans were very eager to get more information about it. He insisted his new car is safer and quicker than the last Murder Nova despite it being lighter and having more robust construction. In the summer of 2017, Shawn finally revealed his new car but, in 2018, he pulled out from “Street Outlaws” after his car started showing problems.
Then after his car started showing some more significant issues, he chose to skip the series so that he could begin fixing his new car for the next season of “Street Outlaws.” After a year, though his fans were desperately waiting for his return, he decided to run his shop.
