Kanye West on Saturday took to Twitter to apologize publicly to wife Kim Kardashian for making insensitive comments post her abortion claims and for insinuating a divorce on social media. The apology came days after he had hinted at the divorce and has now taken that post down. Kim Kardashian later tried to dismiss that or rather justify it by telling fans and in interviews that her ex-husband suffered from bipolar disorder and loved his family way too much.
According to Fox News, the 43 year old American rapper wrote a brisk yet heartfelt post on twitter that went a bit like this, “I would like to apologize to my wife Kim for going public with something that was a private matter. I did not cover her like she has covered me. To Kim I want to say I know I hurt you. Please forgive me. Thank you for always being there for me.”
Kanye did not extrapolate further on what exactly this “private matter” entailed but celebrity gurus are of the idea that it might be related to his divulging of private information during his South Carolina campaign rally last weekend. He opened up about how Kim and him had considered abortion when they conceived their daughter North. Kim did not take any of it well and instead reacted pretty furiously to Kanye’s comments. West almost broke down while explaining, “Even if my wife wants to divorce me after this speech, she brought North into the world even when I didn’t want to. She stood up and she protected that child. You know who else protected a child? Forty-three years ago, who do you think protected a child?”
He further went on record to subtly hint at the fact that the SKIMS founder’s past photoshoot with Playboy was shady and claimed his mother-in-law Kris Jenner was no longer allowed to see the couple’s four kids. He even tweeted how Kardashian had tried to lock him up like on the sets of Get Out movie when he cried about saving their daughter’s life.
Kardashian later took to Instagram and brought out a public statement that Kanye has bi-polar disorder. “Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand,” she continued. She said that her husband’s words could easily be taken out of context completely owing to his position and status and “cause strong opinions and emotions” due to his status as a public figure. She still thought of him as a “brilliant and complicated” person who is simply struggling with his mental health occasionally.
The two divorced in 2020 and Kim has since been dating comedian and SNL co-host Pete Davidson.
