Actress Lindsay Lohan gets engaged to fiancé Bader Shammas, shows off on Instagram

Mean Girls’ actress, Lindsay Lohan announced her engagement to boyfriend Bader Shammas early Sunday morning on Instagram where she showed off her sparkly diamond ring. The news was both expected but also sudden surprise for fans and friends. In a carousel of four photographs that the actress uploaded, the newly engaged couple could hardly contain their gleeful smiles and excitement with Lindsay flaunting her engagement band. She even captioned the pictures “My love. My life. My family. My future.”

Later in the day, her fiancé who’s also the Vice President at Credit Suisse in Dubai retweeted the actress’s pictures of them, confirming news of their engagement. Lindsay, aged 35, has been living in Dubai for the past seven years and dating Bader for the last two. This marks Lohan’s second engagement, after being wed previously to Russian millionaire, Egor Tarabasov. The two split however in 2016 following a series of public fights and physical altercations, upon which the actress had later remarked that her husband was abusive throughout.

The duo connected  in Dubai when Lohan shifted there permanently but kept their budding relationship under wraps for quite a long time. On being asked as to why she decided to relocate to the South East from USA, Lohan replied it was solely to get away from the constant glare of the paparazzi and cameras.

“There’s a certain calmness that I find there,” she said, adding that, “I never considered people taking a picture ‘bothering’ me, but I don’t want people to misinterpret who I am as a person if they see me sneezing and they say I’m crying. I do really appreciate having the life where I can just go outside and not have to worry.”

After a series of failed relationships and dating history, she revealed in an interview in 2019, her requirements in a guy worth settling down for. She wanted someone who would have nothing to do with the camera or media, would have a low-key social media appearance and without the hype that usually is a part and parcel of your celebrity status. Bader Shammas seemed to have ticked off all her criteria off the bucket list since he maintains a private Instagram account. He made an appearance in a group photo his fiancée shared via Instagram in February 2020, but the Just My Luck star later deleted the post.

Shammas is a pretty affluent businessman, having completed his bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from University of South Florida and then again in finance from the University of Tampa. Since 2013, he has been based in Dubai and had previously worked at BNP Paribas, one of the largest banks in the world.

After the actress went public with her engagement news and flaunted off her supposedly Harry Winston band worth £1500000, her father Michael Lohan issued a public statement congratulating the happy couple and added, “Based on what has been released by Lindsay so far, all I’ll say is that I’m so happy for her and Bader, and proud of all she’s doing in life.”

They received support from her siblings, younger brother Dakota Lohan and sister, Ali Lohan as well.

From all of us a celebpundit we wish the soon-to-be nuptials a happily ever after!
