Right from the time he started appearing regularly for High school musical series as the dreamy guy-next-door with a passion for singing, dancing and scoring in the hoops. So when UFC champion of the Women’s Bantamweight, Julianna Pena noticed that the Baywatch actor, 34, was watching her intensely as she entered the ring, she could barely control the butterflies in her stomach.
Pena later took to Twitter on Sunday, December 12, to share her big crush moment. Alongside a picture of the star staring intensely into the ring she put the caption, “Find you a man that looks at you the way @ZacEfron looked at me last night.” Efron was seen in a black T-shirt and cap, sitting with his arms crossed, a serious expression on his face, just before the match was about to begin.
Besides Zac the history-making fight had other celebrities in the audience as well including the likes of Halle Berry, Jared Leto and Tommy Lee. Selling Sunset stars Mary Fitzgerald, Amanza Smith and Heather Rae Young also were in the audience. And everyone had their money well spent.
In what could be only termed as an epic battle, they watched MMA fighter Julianna defeat three time winner and the formerly reigning champion of UFC women’s Bantamweight championship, Amanda Nunes , 31 with a clean sweep. Nunes is still the reigning featherweight champion.
After her win Julianna said in a press interview how people had completely disregarded her stamina or spirit and even undermined her and she felt extremely glad that she could brush off all the anticipation and scepticism and prove them wrong. According to her, she has always been confident and determined and that helped her clinch the title.
“Everybody was sleeping on me, and I shook up the world and did exactly what I said I was going to do,” Peña told the Associated Press after the match. “But I’m not surprised. I have a big heart and determination.”
People quite enjoyed the match and it showed when Heather Rae Young’s husband, Tarek El Moussa posted a picture of the Selling Sunset crew with Zac Efron and UFC announcer Bruce Buffer on Instagram with the caption “I’m the biggest @UFC fan, always have been, We had the best night,” on Monday, December 13.
Some fans speculated that Amanza Smith could possibly be dating Efron but later a source revealed that the High School Musical alum posed with the group simply because they happened to beat the same diner together. This is not the first time that Zac Efron has maintained such an eye-contact or personal touch with athletes.
Back in 2016, when Simone Biles created history by winning gold in the Olympics at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil alongside team USA, the actor flew to Brazil to congratulate her personally. It was later revealed that meeting Efron was a mini celeb moment for Biles who even had a life-size cut out of the actor in her room. So she could hardly believe her eyes or distinguish between fantasy and reality when her crush came to meet her in person and even hugged her.
“If you bring him out, I think I’m gonna pass out,” Biles, now 24, said during an August 2016 appearance on the Today show.
