RHOC star Meghan King opens up about her split from former husband, Cuffe Owens after 2 months of marriage.

Real Housewives of Orange County alum Meghan King really felt she had found her One in the dating website, Raya. And who could it be if not the US president Joe Biden’s nephew and retired centre fielder, Cuffe Owens. However after 2 months of marriage the duo decided to call it quits and officially finalised their divorce, according to an Instagram post from King’s account, dated 27 December.

The couple met over a dating website, Raya and immediately hit it off. They got attached too much too soon, that they wouldn’t even leave each other’s side and decided to tie the knot after just 3 weeks of a whirlwind romance and dating, in October, 2021. Meghan was so excited by the entire prospect of the wedding and Owens that she had previously gushed about it to the wedding magazine, Brides in October.

“Cuffe was booked and packed for a flight to St. Louis” , she said in the interview, within days of their first conversation. “We didn’t leave each other’s side for weeks,” she went on to add at that time. This is however not Meghan’s first marriage as she has been previously married to retired centre fielder, Jim Edmonds for five years. The couple ultimately decided to call it quits over personal issues and incompatibility but maintained contact with each other and even share three kids, daughter Aspen, 5, and twin sons Hart and Hayes, 3.

Edmonds accordingly was very shocked to hear his ex-wife moving on this quickly and that too within a few weeks of dating. His response was recorded by the Daily Mail on the eve of King’s wedding to Cuffe. According to Jim, 52, Meghan had informed that she was going to tie the knot with the president’s nephew over a call.

“It was the first I heard anything about it. I thought it was a joke – they’d been dating for about four weeks!”, Edmonds exclaimed to the Daily Mail. “I wondered, ‘Is she pregnant?’ But is it even possible to know that just four weeks after the first date? … Really I have no emotion on her wedding one way or another. It’s like a stranger getting married. I have no connection to her.”

As for King, 37, she simply wanted a fairy tale happily ever after marriage with Owens but did not realise then what disappointment she was setting herself up for. According to sources, they simply did not get a chance to know each other well before taking such an important life decision and the couple had some evident flaws in adjusting with each other, even before marriage and it showed.

“She was hoping for this fairy-tale life with him, but it was far from it,” the source confirmed in an exclusive interview to the US Weekly. King who has her kids and entire life based into Missouri was not ready to go back to California and felt that the situation would sort itself out post marriage but Owens had other plans. He apparently wasn’t willing to relocate with the whole family to the Midwest and that put a strain on their marriage. Ultimately it spelled a breakup for the two, with King dropping off Cuffe’s surname from her social media handle and removing “wife” from her Instagram bio.

In the post dated December 27, she wrote, “I am rattled. This situation is profoundly devastating. This is obviously not what I imagined when I made my vows — and I’m shocked and saddened by the way things turned out. I am moving forward with my children as we privately process our pain and begin to let go of shattered dreams.”

She requested fans and the media to respect her and her family’s privacy during such times of  emotional duress and hoped she would get back on track for the sake of her kids and herself after this.
