by Normal people’s male protagonist, Paul Mescal confirmed rumors about dating singer Phoebe Bridgers as the two turned up, arm in arm, for the red carpet event at LACMA Art+Film Gala. Speculations have been going on regarding the two celebrities since last year, when Mescal seemingly at an interview, hinted at a steady relationship and his probably being in one since last year.
Bridgers on the other hand took it a bit more publicly when she posted a picture of her and Mescal together on Instagram on his birthday with the caption, ” Happy birthday pizza boy @paulmescal.” Mescal on his part merely reposted her pic onto his page, replying, “Mmmmmm” but has since then deleted his official page.
Phoebe Bridgers later recalled in an interview how she has gushed over the fact that the British actor has followed her on Instagram. “I got a little pitter-patter in my heart when I saw [he followed my Instagram page],” she told NME magazine in June 2020 and even referred to Paul as “the cute boy.”
Both their fans have suspected something brewing between the couple ever since they have been spotted together a couple of times but they got cozy off-duty at Ziwe’s Halloween party where the 29-year-old comedian shared several behind-the-scenes snaps. In one of those, Mescal and Bridgers were spotted in a loving embrace amidst what was essentially a group photograph. The couple got more public exposure when the 27-year-old musician, cast the Ireland native in her “Savior Complex” music video in December 2020.
Both Bridgers and Mescal, 25 years, have been quite successful in their respective fields for the past few years. Bridgers has repeatedly churned out hits like “Garden Song”, “Moon Song” and the solo debut album, Punisher, which earned her widespread critical acclaim and four Grammy Award nominations, including Best New Artist.
Mescal on his part debuted with a starring role in the miniseries Normal People, which earned him a British Academy Television Award as well as nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award and a Critics’ Choice Television Award.
Recently the two turned up the heat on the LACMA Art+Film Gala red carpet event, where Paul showed up in a black tuxedo and matching bowtie, looking dapper as he grinned for the cameras. Phoebe, standing next to him, stepped out in style, sporting a red plaid skirt, ivory lace blouse, and bright red lipstick. The duo shared a laugh as they posed for photos.
Mescal has been pretty open about his dating life and embracing singlehood in the past, but later confessed that he actually looked forward to dating and settling down with someone in the future. In November 2020, he hinted at having a secret girlfriend but chose to keep her anonymous adding that her support and guidance has been a “lifesaver” and “Really, I don’t know where I’d be without her.”
Could this be another hint at Bridgers’ “Savior Complex”? We hope it does!
