Chris Pratt separated from Anna Faris sometime around 2018 after 13 years of marriage but soon found a new love interest in Katherine Schwarzenegger. The Parks and Recreation alum met the actress around 2018 at church and soon started dating quite seriously. Here’s a timeline of their relationship.
The two were first spotted together, out on a date, at a Santa Barbara park where they were probably picnicking and later again for a church visit, around July 2018 along with Chris’s son, Jack, 7. They were later joined for dinner by Schwarzenegger’s family — including brother Patrick Schwarzenegger.
Later a source from US Weekly confirmed that the pair was actually dating and seemed to be really into each other. Ever since, the made quite a number of public appearances, be it in matching outfits on date night in Santa Barbara or joining the Rock What You’ve Got author’s father, Arnold Schwarzenegger and his long-time girlfriend, Heather Milligan. They alluded to their relationship for the first time in social media when the Chris reposted a picture from Katherine’s wall, something she had out up along with a post about the California wildfires.
Soon news started to make way that the couple were deciding to get engaged, with a source stating that Pratt is already turning down work “so he can spend time with her.” Then on December 2018, the happy couple added another feather to their cap when Pratt took to Instagram to honour his girlfriend’s 29th birthday. Along with a picture of the two lovebirds together, he wrote a sweet caption, “I’ve cherished our time together, Thrilled God put you in my life. Thankful for the laughs, kisses, talks, hikes, love and care.”
On January 2019, Pratt spilled the beans about his second engagement. He shared a photo of the two stars embracing each other while Katherine’s finger sported a big diamond ring. If the picture wasn’t sufficient to convince the keen mind, then his caption surely dispelled all speculations. “Sweet Katherine, so happy you said yes! I’m thrilled to be marrying you. Proud to live boldly in faith with you. Here we go!” the Guardians of the Galaxy star captioned the pic along with a ring emoji, praying hands and a red heart.
In an interview with ET, the actor revealed how he felt him and Katherine coming together, that too at a church was nothing if not a sign from God. His family plans hereon would include having lots of kids, the star joked about later. The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part star explained, “It was a lot of kismet, and a lot of connections, but that was where we met,” and that he felt “so grateful” to have found a lifelong partner in Schwarzenegger. He now just feels to take a step back from work and hectic schedules and focus more on his family.
“I always wanted to be that guy that works to live, not lives to work,” he said. “I think [I want to spend] just a lot of time at the farm and a lot of time catching a lot of fish and seeing lots of sunsets.”
One year after the started dating the couple tied the knot at a romantic San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California. It was attended exclusively by only close friends and family, with a guest count of 60 people. The two had even moved together a month after their engagement with Chris constantly sharing hilarious pictures of them two settling in and making space.
The couple made their debut red carpet appearance at the Avengers: Endgame premiere in Los Angeles and even wore complimentary outfits – Katherine, a Monique Lhuillier one-shoulder grey gown accented with black dots and Chris, a black tux with a grey-and-black tie for him.
The couple spent their honeymoon at Hawaii where Pratt was seen gorging on French fries on the poolside of the beautiful 5 star resort. They spent their first Thanksgiving as a married couple among family – attended by both Katherine’s mother, Maria Shrivers and the actor’s 7 year old son, Jack.
On April 2020, news broke that Katherine was expecting her first child with Chris when the paparazzi spotted her out cycling in a loosely fitted shirt but with an evident baby bump. The two have been quite fun in teasing each other about parenthood. The actor took to Instagram to reveal his guilty pleasures saying, “[The cravings have] been tough. Pickles and ice cream. I never thought I would like them.”
They welcomed their first child together on August 2020. “We are beyond thrilled to announce the birth of our daughter, Lyla Maria Schwarzenegger Pratt,” Chris wrote via Instagram. “We couldn’t be happier. Both mom and baby are doing great. We are extremely blessed.”
On December 2021, Pratt called her a “wonderful wife, mother, step-mother, and life partner” via social media and sang praises for the time they have spent together and gotten to know each other, through thick and thin.
