Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock divorced

Celebrity couple Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock officially divorced

Famous lyricist and singer Kelly Clarkson has been officially declared single by the U.S. court. Clarkson was fighting a prolonged legal battle with her former husband Brandon Blackstock.

According to the court papers, a statement was made that the pair’s marital status will end on 7th January 2022. The couple had filed for divorce in June 2020, citing irreconcilable differences between them after 7 years of marriage. The split has included several surprising allegations from both sides, though the former pair has worked out a plan regarding the custody of their two children. The former celebrity duo shares two kids; Remington, 5 and River, 7. The 44-year-old music manager also has two children from his earlier marriage with Melissa Ashworth.

Clarkson appointed a  lawyer to file a motion for a separate lawsuit so that her marital status is terminated and she could legally be mentioned as ‘single’ while the divorce proceedings continued.  Later, the court ordered Clarkson to pay $150,000 every month to Blackstock from 1st April 2021 onwards. The court documents also stated that Clarkson was ordered to pay an additional $45,601 per month for the maintenance of her children. The monthly income of the singer was estimated to be $1.9 million.

After the duo announced their parting, they were involved in a legal battle with Starstruck Management that is owned by Blackstock’s father. Blackstock also works for this company.

Starstruck brought charges against the American Idol winner in September last year, stating that she was indebted to them by more than $1 million in unpaid commissions. Clarkson struck back by filing another petition against Starstruck claiming that both Brandon and his father duped her with millions of dollars by imposing on her huge charges while she was associated with their company.

Brandon repudiated all of his ex-wife’s charges claiming that Clarkson was not authorized to any of the money earned by him, his father, and Starstruck company in the long 13 years of their association. The proceedings of that legal battle are still continuing.

Sources claimed that in spite of all the loathsome legal battles, Clarkson is happily moving forward in her life and is enjoying the majority of time spent with her two children.
