Actor Gosselin helps Ex Colleen Conrad to get through cancer, says “on good terms”

Exes Jon Gosselin and Colleen Conrad showed what being “friends after breakup” actually is. When 51 year old Conrad got diagnosed with cancer, weeks later the couple split up but Gosselin stayed close to her and as per reports, is still helping her out with her treatments and medical procedures. The news was revealed to the public a few days ago on November 8, in an interview on Dr. Oz. Gosselin, 44, said, “We had ongoing issues previous to our breakup and previous to her diagnosis,” adding that he did not want her to stress out further during such a difficult time. Instead they came to a mutual agreement that it would probably be better to split ways but stay friends in the long run. And the actor has stuck to his words through thick and thin.

Jon who is best known for having a reality show to his credit, Jon & Kate Plus 8, aired on TLC was married previously to Kate since 1999, whereupon the couple welcomed twins Madelyn and Cara in 2000, followed by Sextuplets Aaden, Hannah, Leah, Alexis, Collin and Joel, born via vitro fertilization in 2004. The show is basically a documentary of sorts on their family life and often depicted Kate berating her husband for trivial issues, though how much of it is televised and scripted is unknown and open to speculation. After the fourth season of the show, rumours started spreading like wildfire regarding Jon’s habitual infidelity when he was caught having an affair with elementary school teacher Deanna Hummel. The show with all its controversial themes and shots however went on to gross a whopping 9.8 million viewers with the Gosselins earning a reported $75,000 per episode. The two however got divorced in 2009, announced in one of the show’s episodes.

Eight years later he went public with Colleen Conrad, who was a nurse by profession. A graduate from Pennsylvania State University, Conrad has two teenage children, a son and daughter. The two started dating in 2014 but after 7 years of togetherness, have decided to call it quits with Gosselin saying, “I’ve known Colleen my whole life, Her sister used to babysit me…we tried it all but it wasn’t working”.

The news came only one or two weeks after Conrad took to Instagram to make her diagnosis with breast cancer a public news. She was previously tested positive for covid19 and was advised to stay at home and complete bed rest for some time. But on running regular health check-ups a mass was found in her right breast. She got a mammogram but things went downhill from there. Less than a week after her mammogram, Conrad was diagnosed with stage 2 cancer and she had to undergo a mastectomy in July. She was diagnosed previously with stage 2 cancer but later got it downgraded to stage 1 and reports are still due about whether she’d require chemotherapy.

“The reason I decided to post this was that I was lucky that it was caught early,” she told her Instagram followers. “And to remind everyone not to put off your mammograms and do your monthly breast exams. Set a monthly alarm if needed. Even men, who can also get breast cancer. Early detection will make a world of difference and give you a better fighting chance.” Conrad then thanked her friends and family who have supported her throughout but didn’t mention Gosselin in her post.

Gosselin however made it a point to let it be known that he has been with her throughout the incident and not abandoned her in time of need, as many fans have accused him of previously. “I’ll always love Colleen and we’re friends and it wasn’t because of cancer that we broke up,” Gosselin said. “I helped her through cancer, insurance and everything else. I supported her through her cancer. It was easier as friends to break off the relationship and get her through that as well.”
